About the studio

Kilnstone began in 2015 as a single secondhand wheel in a corner of the barn. The first two years were mostly warped bowls and split handles; the test-tile wall remembers all of it.

Today the studio fires twice a month — a bisque load and a glaze load — and sells most of each run through the shop page and the Saturday open studio.

We buy clay regionally, mix every glaze from raw materials, and fire on an off-peak schedule to keep the electricity honest.
