Trimming a foot ring

Trim too soon and the rim distorts; too late and the trimmings come off in dust. Leather-hard is when a fingernail dents but does not stick.

We centre upside-down on a damp chuck, cut the outer diameter first, then hollow to a wall-matched thickness. Tap for the drum note.
