Loading a glaze kiln

A glaze load is a jigsaw where every piece must keep a finger's width from its neighbours. We plan shelves on paper before a single post is set.

Our top shelf runs half a cone hot. Tall pieces go low, flat ware goes high, and the witness cones sit where we can see them through the peep.
