Wedging clay properly

Wedging is the unglamorous gatekeeper of everything that follows. Air pockets survive the wheel, hide through trimming, and announce themselves in the kiln — loudly.

We teach the ram's-head method: heel of the hands, quarter turn, thirty repetitions. When the cut face shows no voids, the clay is ready.
